(Re)design your legal career

Coaching program based on design thinking

Feeling uncertain about your career path?

In the fast-paced world of law, it is easy to follow a trajectory without ever stopping to ask:
“Is this the career I truly want?”

You may feel that your work no longer reflects your strengths, values, or ambitions. You may be questioning whether there is a better fit—within the legal profession or beyond it. Yet, with demanding schedules and high expectations, finding a clear and structured way to rethink your career can feel overwhelming.

This coaching program offers a proven, methodical, and low-risk approach to redesigning your legal career. Drawing on Design Thinking principles, it guides you from uncertainty to clarity—combining deep reflection with practical experimentation—so you can make confident, evidence-based career decisions.

A structured journey from reflection to action

This is a single, integrated 8-session process, fully guided by me. Reflection and action are not treated as separate steps, but as essential and complementary parts of one coherent journey.

You will not be asked to “figure it out on your own.” Each session builds on the previous one, helping you move forward with structure, momentum, and confidence

How the program works

  • You are guided through a structured career redesign process based on Design Thinking.

  • You clarify your values, strengths, and career patterns to gain direction and focus.

  • You explore and compare realistic career options within or beyond law.

  • You test ideas through small, low-risk experiments before making major decisions.

  • You leave with clarity, confidence, and a repeatable method for future career choices.

They worked with me

"When I decided to join Eszter's "(Re)design your Legal Career" coaching program, my goal was to take a comprehensive look at my current career and open myself up to a wide range of future possibilities. It's not easy for me to readily invest in this type of program, but Eszter's genuine approach and personality were ultimately convincing. The full impact of our work together became clear in our final session, delivering results beyond what I had initially expected. This program truly emphasizes that you need to put in the effort, but Eszter is a great facilitator, helping me understand concepts I wouldn't have grasped on my own."

Ágoston, law professional

"I wasn’t sure whether a group program would be right for me, or whether I would be able to grow—or even speak honestly—among people I didn’t know. With Eszter’s guidance, however, everything flowed very smoothly. Over the course of six weeks, she supported us with such natural kindness and genuinely individualized attention that all my doubts disappeared. In their place came a wealth of fresh perspectives that revealed a new way of looking at my existing situation. I wholeheartedly recommend Eszter’s group sessions to anyone who feels even slightly uncertain about themselves—they will certainly not be disappointed."

Agnes, legal professional

"A 6-week journey to my inner self. I reached a level of decisiveness in my career options that I had never achieved before. I discovered my strengths and found answers to difficult questions. As an important step toward a new beginning, I was able to mourn my early bad decision in my career. During our weekly conversations, Eszter had a remarkable ability to pinpoint the issue, and her questions really helped me see things more clearly. The program was hard work, but it was definitely worth it. I'm so curious about what follows. Thank you so much, Eszter!"

Fanni, legal professional

"I had never worked with a coach before, but I can sincerely say that working with Eszter has helped me gain much more clarity about my career crisis and identify the steps that can lead me towards my true professional path. I wholeheartedly recommend her. She is a very positive and energetic person who truly has an impact on people. I also fully agree with her approach that real progress requires personal effort — we cannot expect a career coach to provide all the answers without being willing to work on ourselves."

L.A., lawyer

"Have you lost your momentum? Does the legal profession feel too narrow, or do you simply want to reconnect with what originally inspired you to become a lawyer?" These two opening questions immediately resonated with me when I read the introduction to Eszter’s career (re)design workshop, which is specifically tailored for lawyers. Participating in the workshop is probably one of the best life decisions I’ve made recently. The thoughtfully chosen venue, the inspiring and sufficiently motivated small group, the structured exercises carried out over two days, and of course, Eszter’s professional yet warm personality all contributed to the success of our work together — ultimately leading to a clear outline of potential future career paths. I wholeheartedly recommend Eszter’s small-group or one-on-one programs to any fellow legal professionals who feels stuck or even burned out at this stage in their career."

Peter, legal professional

"I highly recommend Eszter's sessions to everyone. The session I attended was well thought-out and structured; it sparked many thoughts in me and shed light on key aspects of career planning."

About me

My name is Eszter Bodnár. I am a law professor and a certified coach, primarily working with individuals and companies in the legal industry.

I began my career in public service, working for the National Election Office and the Ministry of Justice in Hungary. In these roles, I was responsible for legal drafting, which allowed me to strengthen my strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills. Over the course of a decade, I collaborated closely with judges, lawyers, government officials, policy-makers, and NGOs at both domestic and international levels, gaining valuable insights into their professions and the challenges they face. Later, I joined an international NGO, where I developed international capacity-building and training projects for government officials across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East.

My passion for research and teaching eventually led me back to academia, where I work with the next generation of lawyers. As a law professor, I have taught thousands of students and mentored dozens of graduate students and younger colleagues worldwide. I have authored a monograph, edited several books, and published over a hundred book chapters and journal articles. My teaching and research have taken me to the US, Australia, Canada, Latin America, most of the European Union member states, and beyond. I also co-founded and served as a co-chair of an international network of Central and Eastern European public law specialists.

I am currently an associate professor at ELTE Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest and an adjunct professor at the University of Victoria, Canada. I also hold a continuous teaching appointment at the University of Heidelberg and Sant’Anna School of Advanced Study in Pisa.

2017 was a turning point in my life and career—I moved to Canada, and while continuing my legal projects, I took on a new role as the director of Sonus Foundation, an independent NGO dedicated to making contemporary classical music more accessible and sustainable. In this role, I established a program to support young musicians in their entrepreneurial journey.

I hold a J.D. and a Ph.D. from ELTE Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest and earned my International Coaching Certificate from the World Coaching Organization.

I divide my time between the West Coast of Canada and Europe, offering both online and in-person services.
